Learn the foundations that give meaning to the herbs and preparations you choose.

02. Study the Herbs

Build a working knowledge of individual plants, their traditional uses, and important precautions.

03. Put It into Practice

Follow preparation lessons and develop skills you can use in your own kitchen.

04. Keep Learning

Return to your course or deepen your studies through the annual membership library.

Knowledge for Your Home

Imagine understanding why you’re reaching for a particular herb, how the body processes its constituents, and which preparation makes sense for the situation. Imagine opening your herbal notebook and finding information you understand well enough to put into practice.

Confidence grows through education and experience. Learning how the body works gives meaning to the preparations you make. Studying individual herbs helps you recognize their uses, limitations, and precautions. Those lessons become knowledge you can carry into your home and pass on to the next generation.

Meet the Herbalist

I’m Amy K. Fewell—herbalist, author of The Homesteader’s Herbal Companion, founder of Homesteaders of America, and creator of the Homestead Herbalist.

I help families understand herbs and develop practical skills they can use in their own homes. My teaching is rooted in my faith of the Creator, Yahweh, and brings traditional herbal knowledge into conversation with scientific evidence, with attention to safety, preparation, and the individual person.

My goal is to make substantive herbal education understandable and useful, so you can exercise greater discernment as you care for your household.

Rooted in Faith

Learning herbalism can be part of stewarding what God has entrusted to us: our families, our homes, and the resources around us. Here, we study the body, examine traditional uses, consider scientific findings, and acknowledge where knowledge is limited.

You’ll be encouraged to understand your choices, recognize precautions, and appreciate when a situation requires care beyond what you can offer at home.

A Few Questions

Do I need previous herbal experience?

Begin with introductory teaching on herbal actions, terminology, and navigating the course. The membership offers opportunities to deepen your studies as your knowledge grows.

Is the virus course included in membership?

Yes. The annual membership bundle includes the complete Virus and Herbal Preparations course and the additional membership library.

How long will I have access?

The standalone course purchase provides permanent access to the purchased course. Membership provides annual access to the course and membership resources, with renewal required to continue access.

Will I receive a certificate?

A certificate of completion is available for the Virus and Herbal Preparations course. It recognizes completion of that course and is not a master herbalist certification. There is a 2027 Master Herbalist Course that is also in the works, where students would receive a Master Herbalist Certificate.

Can I study at my own pace?

Yes. Study the available lessons and resources on your schedule. Membership access continues while your annual subscription remains active.

What’s coming next?

I’m developing a new course in 2027 while writing my new book. Details about enrollment and any membership availability will be announced separately.

Your Next Step

Build knowledge you can carry into your home.

Choose the standalone course for permanent course access, or the annual membership bundle for the course and continued learning. Begin where you are, and grow one lesson at a time.
